AUGUSTA, Ga. — One day after artfully dodging questions about his club-kicking incident on Friday, Tiger Woods was pressed further on it yesterday and responded with an apology. Sort of.
Woods, addressing the moment when he kicked his 9-iron in anger after he blocked his tee shot into a right bunker on the 16th hole, said, “Certainly I’m frustrated at times and I apologize if I offended anybody by that. But I’ve hit some bad shots, and it’s certainly frustrating at times not hitting the ball where you need to hit it.
“I certainly heard that people didn’t like me kicking the club, but I didn’t like it either. I hit it right in the bunker and [that] didn’t feel good on my toe, either.’’
