AUTOS: Harvick takes Daytona

Kevin Harvick won a wild Saturday night race at Daytona International Speedway. It was his second win of the season. Kasey Kahne was second, followed by Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jeff Burton. The start of the race was delayed almost 90 minutes by rain, and a 20-car accident with 12 laps to go stopped the action another 20 minutes.

* Will Power won the Camping World Grand Prix at Watkins Glen International with a commanding performance, giving Team Penske its first IndyCar Series win at the storied road course. Power, the series points leader, led 45 of 60 laps around the 11-turn, 3.4-mile road course. He beat teammate Ryan Briscoe by 1.2 seconds for his third win of the season.

GOLF: Choi wins Farr Classic in playoff

Na Yeon Choi birdied the second playoff hole to win the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic in Sylvania, Ohio. Choi made a 15-foot birdie putt on the final hole to join fellow South Koreans InKyung Kim, Song-Hee Kim and American Christina Kim in the playoff.

* Larry Mize won the inaugural Montreal Championship for his first Champions Tour victory, closing with an 8-under 64 for a one-stroke victory over John Cook at Fontainebleau Golf Club.

* Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez won the French Open, beating countryman Alejandro Canizares and Italy’s Francesco Molinari in a playoff.

MLB: Diamondbacks send Willis packing

Dontrelle Willis was designated for assignment yesterday by the Diamondbacks, who recalled left-handed reliever Jordan Norberto from Triple-A Reno. In six games with Arizona, five as a starter, Willis was 1-1 with a 6.85 ERA.

TOUR DE FRANCE: Petacchi rolls

Alessandro Petacchi yesterday avoided three crashes in the final 1.25 miles to the first stage of the Tour de France, a 139-mile ride from Rotterdam, Netherlands, to Brussels. Fabian Cancellara remained the overall leader by 10 seconds over Germany’s Tony Martin. Lance Armstrong was 22 seconds back.

MLS: Red Bulls draw with Colorado

Juan Pablo Angel scored his ninth goal of the season to help the Red Bulls tie the Colorado Rapids 1-1 in a rain-drenched game last night in Commerce City, Colo. Angel scored in the 34th minute off an assist from Sinisa Ubiparipovic.
