According to the Boston Herald, doctors have performed three additional surgeries on Tom Brady’s knee to rid it of an infection that occured during the initial operation to repair a torn ACL.
According to the Herald’s unnamed source, “the fear is the patellar tendon graft used to replace Brady’s anterior cruciate ligament is in danger of becoming compromised. Should that occur, the entire ACL reconstruction would have to be removed and redone from scratch.”
ESPN is reporting the Patriots are frustrated that Brady chose not to have the surgery in Boston under doctors of their choosing. Instead, deciding to have the operation done by a doctor in California that his family was familiar with.
Brady is currently under a six-week course of IV antibiotics, but if that does not flush out the infection then another surgery may be required.
