Tiger Woods yesterday scoffed at a report that he had an injured Achilles tendon and was a possibility to withdraw from the Buick Classic.

“The only thing injured is my pride,” said Woods, who tied for 12th at the U.S. Open.

“Anybody who wants to do their best and is not able to is going to be disappointed. If you are not, I don’t think you are human. I am no different from anybody else in that regard. I tried as hard as I could. I got a lot out of my game last week. I didn’t hit the ball as cleanly as I wanted to, but I really scored well to shoot the numbers I shot.

“I wish I could have played a little better.”
