Could the World Cup return to our shores in 2018?
The answer is yes if you listen to U.S. Soccer President Sunil Gulati. Although England has confirmed its interest to stage the competition, Galati said there is an appetite across the Atlantic to “finish what we started” in 1994 when the tournament was last held in America.
“We will make a decision in the next two or three months, but we are looking at it very seriously,” Gulati told reporters on Thursday. “I canât think of any reasons why we wouldnât bid for the tournament.”
Gulati said the U.S. has had a lot of success staging sporting events and the World Cup would be no different.
“Weâve done this before and been successful at doing it,” he said.
