Sitting in the last row of the bleacher seats at Shea Stadium last night, Jeff Van Gundy refused to comment on a report by The Post’s Peter Vecsey that Portland wants to interview him about the Trail Blazers’ coaching vacancy.

“I’m here to watch a ballgame,” said the friendly, but uncooperative Van Gundy from his perch in the last row of the picnic area seats in left center. “I don’t want to talk about that.”

Vecsey reported in Saturday’s Post that Portland GM Bob Whitsitt will ask the Knicks for permission to talk to Van Gundy about the open head coaching job. Former coach Mike Dunleavy was axed nine days after the Lakers swept the Blazers from the first round.

The Knicks officially declined comment on the report.
