CLEVELAND – Brian Cashman didn’t want to speak for George Steinbrenner, but the Yankees’ GM said yesterday’s hastily called meeting of Steinbrenner’s Inner Circle in Tampa went well.

“It was a good meeting, we talked about the club and we feel good about it,” Cashman said before flying home.

Even The Boss has a good feeling about a team that continues to have rotation issues?

“I don’t want to speak for him,” Cashman said.

Before flying to Tampa, Cashman didn’t anticipate strengthening the rotation through a trade. After the pow-wow he felt the same way.

“I am not anticipating help from the trade market,” Cashman said.

That could change if Randy Johnson somehow clears waivers today at 1 p.m. although it’s highly unlikely that will happen. The Yankees don’t have an interest in Rockies lefty Shawn Estes.
