Two teams going nowhere meet on Tuesday night, but it’s “MACtion,” so you know there will be plenty of betting interest when Akron visits Bowling Green at 7 p.m. ET.

The Falcons enter this showdown in the midst of a four-game losing streak and have lost six of their last seven, but they are 3-point betting favorites on Senior Night at Doyt L. Perry Stadium.

The Zips travel to Southwest Ohio after losing the “Wagon Wheel” to Kent State in a heartbreaker last week.

Games between two bad college football games often spit out funky betting lines. On paper, this line looks like it should be reversed.

Bowling Green has two impressive wins in its pocket against Liberty and Toledo, but those came in the first half of the season, and it’s been all downhill for this unit since Columbus Day.

The Falcons have lost four in a row against Central Michigan, Buffalo, Kent State, and Eastern Michigan, and they didn’t get to double-digits in two of those defeats. We’re firmly into “playing out the string” territory on the calendar, and it’s quite possible that the Falcons are ready for the offseason.

It also doesn’t help that Bowling Green has been trying to find a quarterback all season. The Falcons have been rotating through four (4!) signal-callers in 2025.

Akron, meanwhile, has been fighting to the finish line.

The Zips couldn’t qualify for a bowl game due to academic infractions, but that hasn’t deterred this team from going all out. They’ve won two of their last three, and their only loss in that span was an overtime defeat to Kent State.

This is the last game of the campaign for Akron, and while there is technically nothing to be gained from winning, a victory would give the Zips their first five-win campaign since 2017. For a program that has gone 15-63 since then, that would be a pretty big deal.

Motivational edges aside, Akron’s statistical profile, form, and personnel is just plain better than Bowling Green. Not sure why the Zips are the underdog on Tuesday night.
