The Tigers will send Tyler Alexander to oppose him. Alexander posted a 2.81 ERA across six pitching appearances in September, allowing two home runs in 25 ²/₃ innings. He has surrendered three earned runs or fewer in 10 of his past 11 appearances. He has a 3.74 ERA on the road compared to a 4.20 ERA in Detroit.
Dylan Cease APBoth teams entered the weekend in the MLB’s top seven in bullpen ERA since the start of September, with the Tigers fifth since the All Star break with a 3.29.
Cease has allowed three earned runs or fewer in 13 of his past 14 starts and the White Sox have allowed three runs or fewer in 14 of their past 21 games, so Chicago will enter the postseason with its arms firing on all cylinders.
