Kansas City Chiefs (-2) over SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS
I can understand why oddsmakers are showing so much respect for the 49ers, who boasted one of the best defenses that we’d ever seen through the first five weeks of the season. But I can’t just ignore what we saw last week — on both sides of the ball.
The Niners’ defense was run all over by the Falcons, who had twice as many points (28) as pass attempts (14) and still won by two touchdowns. A key reason was injuries, which is still an issue for Sunday — safeties Jimmie Ward (hand) and Talanoa Hufanga (concussions) are both iffy, as are top-tier pass rushers Nick Bosa (groin) and Arik Armstead (foot). Good luck slowing down (and keeping pace with) the Chiefs in this contest.

Atlanta Falcons (+6.5) over CINCINNATI BENGALS
Are we sure these teams are this far apart? Yes, the Bengals are coming off an AFC title run and the Falcons missed the playoffs, but you wouldn’t know it after a 3-3 start from both sides.

Atlanta has ridden a versatile and creative run game to the NFL’s lone 6-0 start against the spread, with all three outright losses coming by a combined 11 points. Conversely, the Bengals have already dropped two games as favorites of at least seven points and nearly lost their contest last week against the underdog Saints. This one should be close.
Last week: 1-1. Jaguars (L), Jets (W)
Season: 5-7.
