The Cubs play host to the Diamondbacks in the last of a four-game series, and Mike Estabrook is slated to be the home-plate umpire. Unders are 14-4 this season with Estabrook behind the plate with an average of 7.4 runs per game, which would be about a run lower if not for 24 runs in a Fenway Park slugfest on June 22.
Now, we don’t like to bet these umpire Over/Unders blindly, so we also like that the solid Zack Godley (11-6, 4.65 ERA, 1.54 WHIP) is going for the D’backs. Tyler Chatwood isn’t as solid for the Cubs, giving up a ton of walks; however, Estabrook’s large strike zone helped him give up only two walks in a June 12 game that stayed Under, plus the D’backs are 2-0 with the Under in Estabrook games.
The books usually don’t post Over/Unders in Wrigley Field games in advance until getting the wind reports, but we’ll go Under whatever the market sets on Thursday.
The play: Diamondbacks-Cubs Under.
