The Battle for The Hawkeye State will have a new chapter written on Thursday in Ames, when the Iowa State Cyclones look to keep their perfect start to the season going.
Iowa State’s defense has been the key to its 8-0 record. The Cyclones rank sixth in the nation in points allowed on a per-possession basis. They will be tasked with trying to create turnovers against an Iowa offense that is No. 1 in the country in taking care of the ball, turning the ball over on 10.7 percent of their possessions.
Iowa State also ranks sixth in the country in turnovers forced per possession, creating one on 26.4 percent of possessions. Iowa rates 54th, forcing a turnover every 21.8 percent of their defensive possessions.
Iowa State has allowed opponents to shoot 26.5 percent from 3-point range, which ranks 19th in the country, and has allowed 70 points or fewer in seven straight games, so Thursday’s showdown will have more defense then expected.
The play: Iowa State-Iowa total, Under 151 points.
