After playing in the Korea Baseball Organization last year, Chris Flexen’s return to MLB has been a success, but perhaps a bit lucky and he will face an Angels team on Friday that ranks in the top 10 in the league in most offensive categories.
Prior to playing in South Korea last season, Flexen went 3-11 with an 8.07 ERA in three seasons for the Mets with 12 hits and 1.9 home runs allowed per nine innings.
This season, he has posted a 2.74 ERA in 23 innings across four starts with just one home run surrendered, but is still giving up 10.2 hits per nine innings and faces an Angels lineup that leads the league in road batting average.
The Angels will counter with Andrew Heaney, who has improved his weakness for giving up home runs, allowing just one in 20 ²/₃ innings across four starts this season while striking out 12.6 batters per nine innings.

With the Angels hitting the most home runs on a per-at-bat basis, and the Angels’ team ERA being 3.38 away from Angels Stadium as compared to 5.34 at home, shades of the old Flexen will be on display on Friday.
The play: Angels, -140.
