The Colts (3-2-1) and Titans (3-2) are two of just six teams in the AFC with winning records and will knock heads Sunday for the top spot in the AFC South. The game is a rematch of a Week 4 contest at Indianapolis when the Titans pulled off a 24-17 victory.

After a foot injury last season and a slow start in 2022, Titans running back Derrick Henry looks more like himself with 100.3 yards rushing per game over his last three. Colts quarterback Matt Ryan turned back the clock last week with 42 completions and 389 yards.

Not only did the Titans get the best of the Colts on the road in Week 4, but they also have a four-game winning streak in the matchup. And after getting its running game going in recent weeks, Tennessee comes off a well-placed bye week in order to get some rest.

Perhaps more important, though, is that the Colts’ offense is not getting any downtime meaning it can continue its flow after an impressive Week 6. Ryan delivered three touchdown passes for the Colts last week. He even had 356 yards and two TDs in Week 4 vs. the Titans.

The Titans’ defense has struggled against the pass, ranking last in the NFL (287.6 yards per game). It means that in a tight game, the Colts can lean on Ryan, who is thriving in his new offensive attack, while the Titans have struggled to make waves late in games.

Ryan has three games of at least 350 yards for the Colts in six tries, but his performances have been uneven, with eight TD passes to seven interceptions. And his two-TD game against the Titans? Tennessee QB Ryan Tannehill matched that on just 137 yards.

The Colts’ offense remains a work in progress with 17.2 points per game, tied for fifth worst in the NFL. And while they are coming off a season-best 34 against the Jaguars, that game was at home. The Titans are giving up 20.5 per game at home.

The Titans are just slightly better on offense at 19.2 points per game and have yet to score more than 24 this season. A Titans run-first attack isn’t exactly a recipe for scoreboard-busting, while the Colts’ Tannehill is 26th in the NFL with 965 passing yards and six TDs.

If there is one thing the Titans have proven to be it is a strong first-half team. Take the Week 4 victory when they scored 24 first-half points against the Colts and finished off the victory. Now they come off a bye week where they will be fresh.

Those strong first halves have come on the back of Henry, who is rounding into form after two stagnant games to open the season. But the Titans have scored just 14 points after halftime this season and have not scored in the fourth quarter.

Going back to that Week 4 game, the Colts defense held the Titans scoreless in the second half, and Indy got a Ryan TD pass midway through the third quarter. In fact, the Titans’ offense had just 34 combined yards over four possessions after the Colts’ TD in the third.
