As veteran sports bettors know, you can bet on anything and everything during Super Bowl week.

Perhaps the silliest prop bet of all is the color of the traditional post-game Gatorade bath, which is typically dumped on the head coach of the winning team.

And this week, 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan may have tipped his hand on what that color may be if San Francisco emerges victorious Sunday

“I like orange,” Shanahan said when asked what his favorite Gatorade flavor was during a press conference Monday.

But orange Gatorade is not what he drinks on the sidelines.

“Water,” Shanahan said after he was asked a follow-up question about what he drinks on game day.

Perhaps thanks to Shanahan’s comments, orange (+300) is the favorite to be the first color dumped on the winning head coach after the game at FanDuel Sportsbook

Blue, which was used by the Rams in 2022 and the Buccaneers in 2021, is the second favorite (+370) color on FanDuel’s odds board.

Purple was poured on Andy Reid when the Chiefs topped the Eagles during last year’s Super Bowl. Purple is tied with Yellow/Green at +390, the third-best odds.

Water/clear, Shanahan’s gameday drink of choice, is +750, the lowest odds offered by FanDuel.

Orange has been used in the Gatorade shower five times since 2001, the most of any color, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.

Ready to start your Super Bowl 2025 betting?

Red/Pink is sitting at +550 to be the Gatorade color, but if recent history is any indication that won’t be the pick.

Since 2001, red/pink has never been used in the postgame bath.

There’s also a shot that there is no Gatorade shower at all, which would then result in a void of all bets at FanDuel on the prop.
