And just like that, it’s Christmas week and the season is nearly over.
The playoffs are just around the corner, and many players on non-contending teams will undoubtedly opt out and prepare for the offseason.
That’s where we’re looking for some value as we target some of Week 17’s early lines, an end-of-season schedule that includes a three-game Christmas Day slate and two more Saturday games on the horizon.
It’s a big NFL schedule this week, and there are plenty of angles to look at ahead of Week 17, with the goal of beating the closing line enough to middle some of the lines at key numbers.
NFL Week 17 early predictions
Giants (+1.5, FanDuel) vs. Raiders
The line movement on this game has been outrageous since Sunday night.
Big Blue opened as three-point favorites on FanDuel and has since moved an obscene amount, 4.5 points, down to +1.5 by Monday midday. This is a wild number to see, and it only makes sense if there are some inklings that Jaxson Dart won’t play in this matchup.
the Giants’ spread has moved four points since open against the Raiders in the tank off. APIf that’s the case, I’m going to wind up on the wrong side here.
But if Dart is the starter, and there’s been no reason to suspect he won’t, the Giants should still be favored here.
Ashton Jeanty and the Raiders will be rolling against the Giants; there’s no denying that.
There should still be some buyback off a four-point line move in under 24 hours. Target the Giants at +1.5 and expect this line to move a bit as we get towards Sunday.

Texans (+2, BetMGM) vs. Chargers
Buy low and sell high.
The Chargers just beat down the Cowboys, which was impressive in its own right, while the Texans had an iffy performance against the hapless Raiders.
Will Anderson Jr. #51 of the Houston Texans reacts after a second quarter sack. Tim Warner/Getty ImagesBut we’ve seen what the Texans can do when they get their pass rush going. This line opened at Texans +3.5, so you missed the best of the line, but I think you’re looking at Texans at a pick ’em price at some point by the time kickoff rolls around on Sunday.
At the minimum DVOA agrees with me here. The Texans are rated No. 5 in overall team DVOA, while the Chargers are all the way down at No. 15.
It’s just too big of a difference to ignore in this spot.
