Our NFL betting expert brings you his best Steelers vs. Patriots predictions and picks for their NFL Week 2 showdown, which is live Sunday on FOX at 1 p.m. ET.

After allowing 469 yards and six touchdowns through the air last week, the Baltimore Ravens defense will be looking to stifle Mac Jones and a New England Patriots offense that might just be starting to find a rhythm early in the season.

Patriots vs. Ravens picks and analysis

Once upon a time, quarterback Lamar Jackson visited with the Patriots ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft. New England owned the 23rd and 31st overall pick, electing to take an offensive tackle, Isaiah Wynn at No. 23, and running back Sony Michel at No. 31.

Jackson was selected at No. 32. After resting his balky right elbow in practice this week, Jackson gets a chance to show the Patriots what they missed out on this Sunday while making sure Baltimore bounces back from a setback against the Dolphins.

Patriots +3

Following a two-game road trip to open the season, the Patriots are home at last.

New England’s success against the Ravens in Foxborough, Mass., is staggering, as it is a perfect 6-0 in regular-season meetings. Baltimore and the Patriots have split four playoff games on New England’s home turf, though.

But putting that success aside, what really matters here is whether or not New England can cover against the Ravens — and if it continues on the path it’s on, it most certainly can.

The Patriots have covered Sunday’s designated three-point spread in nine of their past 13 homes games (69.2 percent), with seven of those nine covers being outright wins. Taking New England with the points provides a nice buffer.

Our Pick: Patriots to cover +3.0

Betting on the NFL?

Over 42.5 total points

Neither team’s secondary will be entering this game at 100 percent due to a handful of injuries, so expect there to be a lot of activity through the air. That usually equates to points, and lots of them.

Whenever these two teams clash, it tends to be a high-scoring affair. Baltimore and the Patriots have combined for at least 43 points in 10 of their last 12 head-to-head meetings.

With the actual point total settled most of the week at 43.5 (-110), the half-point makes a world of difference in this scenario. Taking an alternate line here does reduce the payout but simultaneously gets the data on your side.

Feel free to wager a little bit more with the decreased odds and ensure that a half-point won’t ruin your Sunday.

Our Pick: Over 42.5 total points

Lamar Jackson over 52.5 rushing yards

Jackson ran for 119 yards against the Dolphins last Sunday, but that’s not the main reason his rushing prop is so enticing against New England.

It’s a relatively small sample size, and we understand Bill Belichick doesn’t fall into the “predictable” category. Still, Jackson has rushed for at least 55 yards in each of his two career games versus the Patriots. He tallied 16 carries in one game and 11 in the other, meaning he could once again be in line for double-digit touches this time around.

New England only allows 78 rushing yards per game but has yet to deal with a quarterback that possesses Jackson’s scrambling abilities this season.

Assuming Baltimore can’t get its running backs going against a stout Patriots front seven, Jackson could be relied upon even more in the run game, making this an even more enticing pick.

Our Pick: Lamar Jackson over 52.5 rushing yards
