No team in the NHL has treated over bettors more kindly than the Columbus Blue Jackets since the beginning of last season.

A young team with a thin defense, unreliable goaltending, and some terrific playmakers up front, the Jackets have all the ingredients to be an Over bettor’s dream, and the numbers bear it out.

Games featuring the Blue Jackets average 7.03 goals this season, and their last three contests have seen a whopping 28 pucks find the back of the net. That number, which averages out to 9.3 goals per contest, is obviously unsustainable, but it shows where the Jackets are at right now as a club.

The two teams face off at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday on ESPN+ and Hulu.

Blue Jackets vs. Panthers prediction

The Florida Panthers have also been kind to Over bettors the past two seasons. In fact, the only team that has cashed more Over tickets than Florida since the beginning of 2021-22 is Columbus.

Although the Cats are a much better team than Columbus, they’ve got similar strengths and weaknesses. Florida’s offense has regressed from last season’s record-setting pace, but the Panthers are still 11th in goals per game and second in expected goals created at five-on-five. They should be able to post a crooked number against this leaky Jackets defense.

Similarly, Columbus should be able to get a few pucks behind a Panthers team that is 21st in goals allowed and 22nd in save percentage on the season.

It may be a square play, but this contest has all the ingredients for a bet on the Over.
