Last Sunday, we cashed our second straight AAF weekly best bet on the San Antonio Commanders. As a handicapper, I don’t believe in having “favorite teams,” because it clouds us from being objective, and w.” We should be betting with our heads and not our hearts.

So, it’s just a coincidence (mostly a quirk of the schedule) that I’m landing on San Antonio as my best bet for the third straight week.
The Commandeers are 1 ¹/₂-point road underdogs at the Atlanta Legends on Sunday, even though they’re 3-2 and tied for the lead in the AAF’s Western Conference and facing an Atlanta team that started 0-3 but has won two straight to stand at 2-3.

I’ll take San Antonio’s wins against previously unbeaten Birmingham (which has beaten Atlanta, 28-12) and Arizona over Atlanta’s wins over San Diego (which is 1-1 vs. San Antonio this season) and Memphis (which is tied for worst record in the league). Besides, San Antonio’s 37-29 loss to Orlando, the AAF’s best team, back in Week 2 was much better than Atlanta’s 40-6 loss to Orlando in Week 1.

I know Atlanta has home-field advantage, but that didn’t help it in the loss to Birmingham, and that the Legends have improved since Aaron Murray took over at quarterback — but The wrong team is favored here. San Antonio QB Logan Woodside leads a balanced offense. He’s supported by Kenneth Farrow, who has the AAF’s highest single-game rushing performance at 142 yards against Birmingham two weeks ago, and tThey get to face a defense that has allowed a league-worst 24.6 points per game despite facing a weak schedule.

The play: San Antonio Commanders, +1¹/₂
