BOISE STATE (+3) over Fresno State: Jeff Tedford is doing a remarkable job at Fresno State, where he’s 18-5 straight up and 18-3-2 against the spread in two seasons. The Bulldogs are winning with the steady hand of veteran QB Marcus McMaryion and a rock-solid defense, but they have faced a string of weak opponents. The best QB they have faced will be Boise State’s Brett Rypien, who pulls the trigger on one of the nation’s top-15 pass offenses. The Broncos have not been a regular-season home underdog since 1990, but we should see their A game.
Auburn (+14½) over GEORGIA: Gus Malzahn’s 6-3 team is playing with nothing to lose in the spoiler role and allows only 17.3 ppg. This is a big number to lay against a quality SEC defense. The preseason line was Georgia -3¹/₂.
Last week: 0-2.
Season: 11-9.
