Many unexpected things had to happen for the Giants to find themselves currently with the best record in the MLB, and the development of Logan Webb has been one of the biggest. He will look to turn another gem against the Braves on Saturday.
The Giants are 11-1 in Webb’s last 12 starts. He’s allowed two runs or fewer in all 12 starts, with a 1.63 ERA and .198 opponents batting average, as well as 1.9 walks and 0.7 home runs per nine innings allowed.
On the other side, Atlanta’s Huascar Ynoa is making his third start since breaking his hand on a dugout bench in May. In his two starts since returning, he gave up zero runs in 5 ¹/₃ innings to a scuffling Mariners team and took a loss against the Yankees with three runs allowed in six innings.
The Giants entered this series with a league-best 2.08 ERA and 2.1 walks per nine innings in August from the bullpen, while the Braves’ 3.81 ERA in August is 14th in that span.
The Braves have been held to four runs or fewer in five of their last seven games entering Friday and the Giants were leading the league in home runs on the road with 1.7 per game, so San Francisco will continue its winning ways Saturday.
The play: Giants, +110.
