The Coyotes were on a three-game winning streak before their trip east this week, but they are suffering cluster injuries at the most important position in hockey. Darcy Kuemper and Antti Raanta, their two top goalies, are hurt, leaving the position to AHL call-ups Adin Hill and Ivan Prosvetov.

Arizona has managed to go 5-3 in its past eight games without Kuemper. The offense had picked up the slack, as the Coyotes had scored 33 goals in the past nine games including a 5-2 victory over the Panthers on Tuesday night.

Tampa Bay is playing its best hockey of the season and has won eight in a row, including Tuesday night’s 9-2 destruction of the Canucks to start a lengthy homestand. The Lightning were not in a playoff spot before this winning streak, but are now. Nikita Kucherov has seven points in Tampa Bay’s past five games playing on a dynamic and explosive top line with Steven Stamkos and Brayden Point.

With its top two goalies down, Arizona has been compromised on defense, and it has shown with the Coyotes’ goal allowance rising recently. Arizona has averaged 2.5 goals against this season, but that number has risen to 2.91 over the past 11 games. I think goals will be on the menu in this game, making the Over worth a wager.

The play: Coyotes-Lightning, Over total
