Two seasons ago, the Miami Marlins traded Zac Gallen to the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Wednesday night in Phoenix, Gallen was supposed to face his old team for the first time.
But Gallen was scratched with a UCL issue, so Arizona is turning to Matt Peacock, a 27-year-old rookie who has a 6.17 ERA in eight relief appearances this season.
The Marlins will counter with rising star Trevor Rogers, who has yielded three runs or fewer in each of his seven starts this season. He has a 4-2 record with a 1.89 ERA while giving up just 0.5 home runs per nine innings and striking out 11.8 batters per nine innings.
The Marlins ranks 27th in the majors in percentage of their at-bats that result in home runs, and their 2.6 walks per game on the road are the second-fewest in MLB.
With the Marlins ranking seventh in the league in bullpen ERA and their offense hitting .216 in road games, this battle of up-and-coming stud pitchers should see a low final score.
The play: Marlins-Diamondbacks total, Under 7.5 runs.
