HOUSTON TEXANS (+5) over Los Angeles Chargers
This has “trap game” written all over it for the Chargers, who were blown out last week at home by a Jaguars team that finished with the NFL’s worst record a season ago. Jacksonville is much improved this year, but I still have doubts about whether this Los Angeles team deserves such respect in the betting market given the state of its roster.
Justin Herbert (ribs) is still fighting through pain, and All-Pro tackle Rashawn Slater (biceps) and Pro Bowl pass rusher Joey Bosa (groin) won’t play in this one. The Texans might be the league’s worst team this season, but they have the horses to hang with the injury-riddled road favorites.

GREEN BAY PACKERS vs. New England Patriots Under 40
This is largely a bet against the Patriots offense, which was uninspiring even before the injury to Mac Jones (ankle). I can only imagine how stale this unit will look with likely replacement Brian Hoyer, whose teams have averaged 16.7 points during his 11-game losing streak as a starter.
The Packers’ offense is hardly at full strength, either, with star tackle David Bakhtiari (knee) and running back A.J. Dillon (knee) among nearly a dozen players on the mend. Green Bay scored 14 points last week and seven points in its season opener, so don’t be surprised to see another low output from Aaron Rodgers and company.
