When Texas Tech made its run to the national championship game last season, it was with a defense that gave up the fewest points on a per possession basis in the country.

The Red Raiders come back this season with an offense and defense that rank in the top 15 in efficiency entering their Thanksgiving showdown with Iowa.

The Hawkeyes rely on big man Luka Garza to give them structure. He is leading the team with 22.2 points, 10.2 rebounds, and two blocks per game. The problem is that nobody else averages more than 11 points or 5.6 rebounds per game.

Iowa typically has an advantage in terms of 3-point shooting percentage. That will not be the case versus Texas Tech, which enters ranked fifth in the country in 3-point shooting percentage. Tech’s top three scorers are shooting at least 40 percent from distance.

With Iowa also being 235th in the country in 3-point shooting percentage defense, it should lead to the Red Raiders being able to shoot out Iowa and coast to victory.

The play: Texas Tech, -6.
