Medinah No. 3 is a 7,657-yard, par-72 beast of a golf course just outside of Chicago that has hosted five major championships and a Ryder Cup in its storied history. This week, Medinah plays host to the BMW Championship and a FedEx Cup field that has been trimmed to the top 70. Here are a favorite, a mid-range contender and a long shot to win the tournament:

Rory McIlroy (8/1): I believe this golf course is perfect for McIlroy. He is very long and straight off the tee, and is No. 1 on tour in par-3 scoring, which will go a long way this week. McIlroy’s season arguably has been his best ever with 13 top-10 finishes.

Adam Scott (25/1): It’s the same old story with Scott this season — exquisite ball striking combined with poor putting. But he’s fared well on long courses against the most competitive fields and should be near the top again.

Billy Horschel (50/1): Horschel won the BMW, Tour Championship and FedEx Cup title in 2014. Sitting 39th in the points standings, he’ll need a great BMW to make it to East Lake next week, and I expect he’s up to the task.
