It’s not all about Cam Thomas.
As a matter of fact, re-signing Thomas may be the last thing the Nets get done this offseason. There is a lot of business to get done this summer, and much of it may get done before extending their restricted free agent guard.
General manager Sean Marks has spent time and energy hoarding salary cap space, to the point that one league executive suggested the rebuilding Nets have been “torn down to the studs” and “only exist on a spreadsheet.”
And Marks didn’t collect all that cap space not to use it.
