Scripps Networks Interactive, the cable-programming company that owns HGTV, the Food Network and the Cooking Channel, tumbled after fourth-quarter results missed estimates.

Profit from continuing operations rose to 84 cents a share; analysts had predicted 92 cents on average. Sales rose to $605 million, missing the average estimate of $613.9 million. Scripps shares closed at $59.97, down 3.7 percent, recovering some ground lost earlier in the day.
