Lawyers for a female executive who claims billionaire investor Steve Cohen’s Point72 Asset Management is a “boys’ club” that discriminates against women are pushing back against the firm’s attempt to keep the accusation away from the public.

“Point72’s position appears motivated by a desire to avoid bad publicity about its failure to treat female employees fairly and equally under the laws and pay them what the law requires,” Jeanne Christensen, a lawyer for the woman suing the hedge fund, wrote in a letter to the judge on Friday.

Lauren Bonner, in a suit filed in Manhattan federal court, claims that Point72 routinely degrades and underpays its female employees.

Point72 denies the allegations and has asked the judge to put the papers filed in the battle under seal.
