CUPERTINO, Calif. — Apple Inc. on Tuesday sent media invites to a “special event” to be held March 7 in San Francisco.

“We have something you really have to see. And touch,” the invite reads.

Apple is widely expected to unveil the next version of the iPad, currently referred to as iPad 3, at the event.

Apple shares were up 1.2 percent at $532.02 after the announcement was released.
