Dear John: You get so many negative e-mails regarding health, I thought I would give you a positive spin.
About nine years ago, after being a legal secretary for over 35 years, I became disabled and had no idea what to do.
I made an appointment with a law firm to help me apply for disability. I was met by a paralegal with a stack of papers and requested an attorney to speak with. The paralegal assured me that once I signed, I would meet with a lawyer.
I then decided just to go to my local Social Security office, and met a staff member who walked me through the long process.
And I was approved on the first try!
I went back to this individual and professed my admiration for her assistance.
She replied: “This is what we are here for.”
Hope this helps someone in the same situation I was in. E.S.
Dear E.S.: I’m happy to run your e-mail.
The nature of this column makes it tilt to the negative. So it’s good to hear that someone did the job they were hired to do and solved a problem.
