Michael Arrington, you’ve got a pink slip.
AOL is terminating TechCrunch’s head honcho rather than succumb to demands he made of his bosses in a blog post Tuesday, according to reports late last night.
AOL reps could not be reached late yesterday for comment.
Since last week, Arrington’s status as co-editor of TechCrunch, the blog he founded in 2005, has been uncertain because of perceived conflicts tied to CrunchFund, his venture capital fund.
AOL at first sanctioned the arrangement even investing in the fund that included top Silicon Valley venture capitalists who — with their tech companies — often appear as news subjects on TechCrunch.
However, AOL’s other media star, Arianna Huffington, who oversees editorial content, protested and last week said Arrington would be removed from his post overseeing TechCrunch, although he could remain on the business side.
However, no official firing came and Arrington as of yesterday was still listed as TechCrunch’s co-editor on the site.
