A 117-year-old bakery that ships fruitcakes all over the world had a finance chief with a taste for lavish living, say federal prosecutors.

Sandy Jenkins, 64, who worked as controller for Corsicana, Texas-based Collin Street Bakery, was charged Tuesday with embezzling about $16.65 million.

He used the money to support a lifestyle that included 43 luxury automobiles, a $3 million watch and jewelry collection, a house in Santa Fe, NM, and trips on private planes, the US Attorney’s Office in Dallas said in a statement.

Jenkins was fired in June after the alleged fraud was discovered. He wrote company checks to his creditors and created phony checks that purportedly paid the company’s vendors.

The defendant is charged with mail fraud, which can carry a prison term of 20 years.
