The deal is the richest shirt sponsorship deal in the English Premier League.

Also last week, the Chicago Cubs sued Under Armour, a team sponsor, in Illinois state court for $10.8 million.

It claims the sports apparel manufacturer reneged on its contract because its business has soured.

Across the pond, Olympic officials in London, the site of the 2012 Summer Games, approved a $629 million bailout of the athletes’ village and media center after a private-financing deal collapsed amid the weakened Britisheconomy.
