Research In Motion (RIM) was investigating reports of widespread outages yesterday after BlackBerry users in Europe, the Middle East and Africa complained of problems with their e-mail, instant messaging and Internet browsing services.

“Some users in EMEA [Europe, Middle East and Africa] are experiencing issues. We’re investigating, and we apologise for any inconvenience,” the Waterloo, Ont. company wrote in a tweet.
