Sixteen years after the first major US coffee chain, Starbucks, landed Down Under and slowly won over coffee-mad Aussies, the land of Vegemite and meat pies is striking back.

Bluestone Lane, an eight-store Manhattan chain run by Melbournian Nicholas Stone, is about to open two summer stores — one in the Hamptons and the other in Dumbo — in a partnership with The Surf Lodge in Montauk.

Customers are already lining up for Stone’s flat whites and acai and green smoothie bowls. Their fans include Mr Porter, Macquarie and New York University, as well as Marc Jacobs and Soul Cycle.

Also addicted are Taylor Swift, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz, and they say almost every Victoria’s Secret model goes there for a caffeine fix.
