Forget Whoppers.
Chicken Fries, which returned to Burger King menus in March and helped propel the fast-food chain to a 7 percent same-store sales increase in the second quarter, will welcome a spicy cousin on Tuesday: Fiery Chicken Fries.
Restaurant Brands International, which owns Burger King and the Tim Horton’s donut chain, hopes the limited-time-only menu addition keeps arch-rival McDonald’s in the rear-view mirror.

Over the past year, shares of RBI have gained 40.7 percent — nearly four times the 10.4 percent gain for McDonald’s.
McDonald’s US same-store sales fell 2 percent in the second quarter.
Burger King first introduced Chicken Fries (9 for $2.89) in 2005 — but they were removed from the menu in 2012.
A Change.org petition convinced the company to bring them back.
The spicier fries are a bit of a risk. About 30 percent of the people who taste-tested them think they were too spicy, the company said.
