Interest rates on the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage jumped above 4 percent this week for the first time since October, according to Freddie Mac. The mortgage averaged 4.08 percent for the week ending March 22, up from 3.92 percent last week.
Lovin’ Lulu
Yoga outfitter Lululemon said fourth-quarter earnings jumped 34 percent to $73.5 million, or 51 cents a share. Revenue rose 51 percent to $371.5 million, while comparable-store sales increased 26 percent.
Off the hook
Directors of Morgan Stanley have won dismissal of a shareholder lawsuit accusing them of letting the Wall Street bank overpay its employees even while accepting federal bailouts.
Sober FedEx
FedEx curbed its forecast for global economic growth, citing a recession in Europe and rising oil prices, as it projected a profit range this quarter whose low end trailed analysts’ estimates. Its shares slid 3.5 percent to $92.50.
Good news
Jobless claims decreased by 5,000 to 348,000 in the week ended March 17, the fewest since February 2008.
