Stress tests
The Federal Reserve accepted capital plans from the 10 banks judged by regulators in stress tests last month to need a combined capital buffer of $74.6 billion to guard against a deeper economic downturn.
No jobs
A jobless recovery is a “plausible scenario” because of signs that fewer unemployed peo ple will be able to find work compared with previous expansions, said researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco.
GM closing
Bankrupt auto maker GM said it will wind down production of its medium-duty trucks by the end of July after failing to find a buyer for the operations.
Ford plea
Ford is telling law makers it is concerned that federal support for GMAC LLC is giving the rival auto lender cheaper borrowing costs. Ford is the only major US carmaker that hasn’t filed for bank ruptcy protection.
McD sales
McDonald’s Corp.’s sales rose 5.1 percent in May, but the stock slipped 1.9 percent on weaker US growth.
Shell pays
Royal Dutch Shell Plc, Europe’s largest oil producer, agreed to pay $15.5 million to settle a lawsuit brought by Ni gerians who claimed the company was liable for attacks and killings in their country, according to a state ment issued by the plaintiffs’ lawyers.
