Ubs $hells out
UBS, Switzerland’s largest bank, agreed to pay $120 million to settle claims by investors in Lehman Brothers securities in a lawsuit tied to the investment bank’s 2008 collapse.
Price-y stock
Priceline, the largest US online-travel agent by market value, jumped 3.9 percent to $968.89 after reporting second-quarter sales that exceeded analysts’ estimates. Earlier, shares came within $6 of hitting the $1,000 mark.
Deere in a suit
Philip Falcone’s Harbinger Capital yesterday sued agricultural-equipment maker Deere & Co. and Global Positioning System companies for $1.9 billion as it looks to recoup its investment in bankrupt wireless company LightSquared.
Juniper probe
Juniper Networks fell the most in more than three months after disclosing that it’s being investigated for possible violations of the US Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
B’berry bump
BlackBerry, the beleaguered Canadian smartphone maker, climbed 5.7 percent yesterday to $9.76 after Reuters reported that the company is considering going private. Shares of the company have lost 18 percent this year.
