Goldman Sachs has reportedly placed four technology specialists on leave after last Tuesday’s trading fiasco when it sent thousands of faulty options contracts to the exchanges, the FT.com reported. Goldman could take a hit of $200 million or more from the embarrassing trading snafu after the equity-trading unit unintentionally flooded the market with options trading orders.
Web woes
Amazon.com’s unit that runs Web servers for other companies had problems yesterday that coincided with outages or slowdowns on several popular websites. AirBnB says its site was one of those affected. Other services that were slow or unavailable included Instagram and Twitter’s Vine video-sharing application.
Gas slips
The average price for regular gasoline fell 3.99 cents in the past two weeks to $3.5586 a gallon, according to Lundberg Survey Inc. The survey covers the period ended Friday and is based on information obtained at about 2,500 filling stations.
