AIG bonuses
AIG withheld $2.4 mil lion in bonuses due to be paid to dozens of senior managers on July 15. The bonuses were not paid be cause AIG is still working with Washington compen sation czar Kenneth Fein berg on a number of is sues, a source said.
Wells Fargo
Wells Fargo said bad loans jumped in the sec ond quarter. Assets no longer collecting interest climbed 45 percent to $18.3 billion as of June 30 from the first quarter. The increase was disclosed as Wells Fargo reported sec ond-quarter net income soared 81 percent to a re cord $3.17 billion.
EBay earns
EBay reported sec ond-quarter profit and sales that beat analysts’ estimates. Net income fell to $327.3 million, or 25 cents a share, from $460.3 million, or 35 cents, a year earlier.
SEC rules
Money managers could be restricted from making political contributions in hopes of winning business from pension funds, under rules proposed by the staff of the SEC.
Downtown sale
The 458,848-foot office building at 100 Wall St. will likely be sold under a debt restructuring agree ment between Lehman Bros. and Broadway Part ners that included holding other out-of-town proper ties in a joint venture.
