Nadel to NY

Driven away
GM and Chrysler began offering a new round of retirement in centives. GM will offer its US hourly workers $20,000 in cash, and Chrysler will offer $50,000 to leave the company. Both will pro vide a $25,000 voucher to buy a vehicle made by their respective com panies.
Mattel falls
Mattel fell the most in more than nine years – $2.29, or 16 percent, to $11.90 – in New York trading after declining sales eroded fourth- quarter profit. Net in come dropped 46 per cent to $176.4 million, or 49 cents a share, from $328.5 million, or 89 cents, a year earlier.
IBM CEO
IBM will pay CEO Sam Palmisano a salary of $1.8 million in 2009, unchanged from last year. Palmisano, 57, will also be eligible for a bonus of as much as $5 million and $12 million in stock grants based on his performance.
Whole Foods
Whole Foods Market and the FTC were granted a joint request to cancel hearings set for this month on possible antitrust remedies to the grocer’s $565 million ac quisition of Wild Oats Markets. No reason or other details were pro vided, and no new hear ing date was scheduled.
