Samsung and Sony Ericsson unveiled their new top smartphone models in Barcelona yes terday. Samsung’s Wave uses new touch-screen technology and is the first phone to use its bada operating system, while Sony Ericsson showed three smartphone mod els, two with Google’s Android operating sys tem and a third with No kia’s Symbian.

Dubai debt

Dubai World, a state- owned holding company, may offer its creditors 60 cents on the dollar after seven years as part of a deal to restructure $22 billion of debt, according to a report that cited peo ple familiar with the plans.

Avalanche

A search for a second ConocoPhillips Alaska employee missing and presumed dead in a Kenai Peninsula ava lanche has been stymied by weather. A weekend avalanche buried Jim Bowles, head of Conoco Phillips Alaska, and Alan Gage, part of the compa ny’s capital projects team in Anchorage. Bowles’ body was recovered. Gage is missing and pre sumed dead.

Mercury orbit

Ford Motor Co. plans to launch a new small car for its Mercury brand in early 2011.
