AdMob
Google has completed its $750 million acquisi tion of mobile advertis ing network AdMob and will start buying some of its stock as a result. The company officially took control of AdMob yes terday, less than a week after the FTC approved the deal.
Kindle sales
Amazon.com will start selling its Kindle reader in all outlets of Target, to counter Apple’s com peting iPad. The Kindle will go on sale in Tar get’s 1,740 US outlets on June 6, said a spokesman for the chain.
Borders loss
Borders’ fiscal first- quarter loss narrowed as expenses tied to war rants declined from a year earlier, but revenue and cash at the chain slid. Heading into yester day’s results, the stock was down 12 percent over the past year but had surged 94 percent this year.
Icahn stake
Carl Icahn yesterday reported a 6.86 percent, or 7.3 million share, stake in Mentor Graphics, as of May 17, in an SEC fil ing. Icahn said he ac quired the shares in the belief that they were un dervalued, and he has plans to maximize share holder value.
