Icahn adds
Carl Icahn purchased an additional 4.64 million shares in Lionsgate after the close of his $7-a-share buyout bid, lifting his stake in the independent film and TV studio to al most 38 percent.
Citi shares
The Treasury said gains on its Citigroup in vestments reached $10.5 billion after it completed a sale of a second block of shares at a profit of about $700 million. In total, the Treasury has sold 2.6 billion shares.

Stocks began the third quarter with another loss after initial jobs claims rose by 13,000 to 472,000. The Dow Jones industrial average tumbled 41.49 to 9,732.53, the S&P 500 fell 3.34 to 1,027.37 and the Nasdaq was down 7.88 to 2,101.36.

Ralph Lauren’s com pensation as chairman and CEO of fashion house Polo Ralph Lauren soared 26 percent to $27.7 million in fiscal 2010, according to securities filings.
