Newark sale

Newark may sell its three-year-old Prudential Center arena to close a $150 million deficit. The $375 million venue, the home of the New Jersey Devils, is owned by the city’s housing authority.

Fed purchase

The Fed bought $2.551 billion of Treasuries in the first outright pur chase of government debt since October to prevent money from being drained from the finan cial system.
