President Obama will host a summit of corporate chief executives Wednes day as his administration steps up efforts to mend re lations with big business. The White House said Obama will discuss ideas for creating jobs and mak ing the US more competi tive. Among the companies expected to be represented are Google, Cisco Systems, International Business Ma chines, American Express, Dow Chemical and Pepsico.

Amazon hit

Amazon.com Web sites in Britain, France, Ger many and Spain suffered an outage of more than half an hour last night, stoking speculation that the company was a vic tim of cyber attacks. The Internet retailer — which provoked controversy last week when it with drew hosting services to WikiLeaks — has been threatened with an online attack by a loosely formed group of hackers called “Anonymous,” which has voiced sympa thy for jailed WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange.

$100 oil

OPEC is breaching its production limits the most in six years, signal ing the world’s biggest suppliers are ready to pump more crude next year as oil rallies toward $100 a barrel. Crude rose 11 percent in 2010 as de mand recovered, trading at about $90 for the first time in two years.
