Verizon Wireless, which is expected to announce today that it will begin to offer Apple’s iPhone 4, also will roll out unlimited data plans for the smartphone, according to WSJ.com, cit ing sources, as the phone war with AT&T heats up. At last week’s Consumer Electronics Show, AT&T, which has two-tier plans that cap usage, said it would speed up the launching of its 4G net work, and over the week end AT&T starting selling the 3G iPhone for $49 for customers who buy the smartphone with a two- year service contract and data plan.

Gas up

The average price of regular gasoline in the US has risen about nine cents a gallon over three weeks to $3.08, Trilby Lundberg said.
