Barclays win
Lehman Brothers’ hur ried sale of its US invest ment banking and bro kerage operations to Barclays Plc in Septem ber 2008 was fair, and its bankruptcy estate is not entitled to recover an $11 billion “windfall,” a fed eral judge ruled. The long-awaited ruling by US Bankruptcy Judge James Peck followed a trial in which Lehman argued that Barclays got a sweetheart deal.
J. Crew barbs
After Institutional Shareholder Services advised J. Crew share holders to vote against the company’s pro posed $3 billion acqui sition by TPG Capital and Leonard Green, J. Crew shot back by la beling the ISS report “deeply flawed.”
HP trim
Hewlett-Packard cut its 2011 revenue projec tions to a range of $130 billion to $133.5 billion, sending its shares down more than 12 percent to $42.39 after hours.
Snow joke
Home Depot raised its full-year earnings fore cast and posted a 72 per cent gain in fourth-quar ter profit after selling more appliances, win dows and snow blowers.
